Speech and Language Evaluations
We offer speech and language evaluations and screenings based on the needs of our clients. We have several standardized assessment tools for children of all ages to determine the presence of a communication disorder and the need for treatment. Our speech-language pathologists will provide you with a comprehensive report of your child’s present level of functioning based on developmental normative data. You will also be provided with strategies and carry-over activities to assist your child at home and/or at school.
Social Learning Groups
& Play Groups
Our speech-language pathologists that run our social learning groups specialize in principles of the social thinking model. Groups are organized by a child’s skill set, needs and age. A phone or in-person consultation with the group leader is required in order to determine your child’s placement within the group. We do this to ensure that the group is appropriate and functional for all members!
Our Social Learning and Play Groups target the following skills:
Conversational Skills
Flexible Thinking
Social Problem Solving
Emotional Regulation
Self-Advocacy
Teamwork
Play Schemas
Turn-taking
And more!
Each group is specifically tailored to the needs of each child. All of our groups are unique, highly educational and most importantly FUN for all ages!
Feeding & Swallowing Therapy & Evaluations
Our speech-language pathologists are highly trained in identifying and treating feeding and swallowing disorders. Dr. Kristen Bellom-Rohrbacher is the director of the feeding program at Just Speechy, PLLC. Our philosophy was created as a result of a culmination of her extensive experience working with feeding and swallowing in individuals ages 0-99, as well as research driven. The philosophy of our program is fully evidence-based, and utilizes components of Dr. Kristen Bellom-Rohrbacher’s individually performed research investigations. Each feeding therapist who works in Just Speechy, PLLC is formally trained by Dr.Kristen Bellom-Rohrbacher and all treatment plans are overseen.
Our approaches to feeding therapy include:
Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach
Positive Behavioral Reinforcement
Talk Tools & Oral Motor Techniques
Consultations/Evaluations: The therapy process always begins with a screening or evaluation depending on the needs of the client. During the screening/evaluation, the focus is on gaining extensive background information on the concerns, as well as observing the individual eating a variety of foods (varying consistencies, textures, flavors, etc). An oral motor examination will also take place, in order to assess any underlying weakness or coordination difficulties. After completion of the consultation/evaluation, a treatment plan (tailored to the needs of the individual) will be formulated and the plan will be discussed with the family.
Who receives feeding therapy? Client’s that experience:
Accepting a restricted variety or quantity of foods or liquids
Refusing age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate foods or liquids
Displaying disruptive or inappropriate mealtime behaviors for developmental levels
Failing to master self-feeding skills expected for developmental levels
Failing to use developmentally appropriate feeding devices and utensils
Experiencing less than optimal growth
